We prefer branded equipment to unbranded equipment because branded equipment has a positive history of working safe and unbranded equipment does not. The price is not as important as the quality of the steel and the testing behind the product.
Yale
Yale has a very positive history in the hoist business since Linus Yale invented the differential hoist in 1875. Yale has been leading the industry ever since. Yale is now a part of Columbus McKinnon, the same company that owns Camlok. The Yale hoists, trolleys and winches that we sell have a long history of engineering rather than a brand that has been built a few years ago.
Camlok
Camlok began in 1958 as Deeweld and was founded by an insurance salesman and his father-in-law a railway clerk, in Chester. They created a few clamps by hand each week. Then the name was changed to Camlok Lifting Clamps in 1998 and then was bought by Columbus McKinnon the next year, which placed Yale and Camlok in the same group. The plate, beam and drum clamps we sell under the Camlok name have great history and engineering.
George Taylor
The Taylor family can trace their history in business back to the 1800s in Hamilton, Scotland, with their small foundry. The company as it is today began trading in 1974 with the opening of George Taylor & Co. Lifting Gear, now located in the West Midlands. We supply GT chains and lashing equipment and lashing and lifting points from a brand that has been around in the industry longer than some of its competitors have been in business.
Donati
Donati Sollevamenti has a long history with its foundations in 1930 in northern Italy, specifically with the manufacture of electric wire rope hoists, electric chain hoists and jib cranes. After the 2017 acquisition of Donati by Konecranes, the Finnish lifting and handling group, a small but established Italian company received the support of a much larger global company. We are happy to have Donati’s jib cranes and hoists as a main component of our crane and gantry line up, considering they have been doing just this for almost 100 years.
L’Europea
L’Europea is one of the main brands that scaffolders, builders, and roofers across the UK and Europe have on their sites and for good reason. Their reliability when put to the test on site is second to none. With models that accommodate 150kg up to 1600kg, we are proud to have L’Europea on our scaffold hoists range.
Green Pin
Green Pin shackles hail from Van Beest, a company that originated in 1922 when Dirk van Beest began production of shackles in Sliedrecht. Van Beest began production of shackles in Sliedrecht when he began production of shackles for the local dredging industry. Van Beest launched the Green Pin trade name in the 1970s, and every Green Pin shackle has the green painted pin that the brand is named for. The green pin makes it easy to determine authentic Green Pin shackles.
Each brand on this page has decades worth of experience and steel, and unlike those who sell at market stalls, they stand behind their products. Tell us what you are working with if a specific brand is necessary, or if you must match shackles with what is already on site, and we can point you to the right model.
