Eyebolts

Lifting Equipment LTD supplies eyebolts, eyenuts and bownuts to suit numerous applications; all available in BSW or Metric Coarse thread and with egg or oval links if requested. works certification supplied as standard.

The 3 most common forms of eyebolts are:

  • The Collared Eyebolt : Appropriate for most general applications
  • The Dynamo Eyebolt : Appropriate only where a truly axial load is certain.
  • Eyebolt with Link : Appropriate for general purposes (not to be used as a collared eyebolt fitted with a link)

We can supply eyebolts such as long shank, collared and dynamo, ranging from M6 to M27 with SWLL from 0.07 up to 25 tons, manufactured from high tensile steel, self coloured issued as standard or electro-galvanising available on request.

Basic Tips For Using Eyebolts Safely

  • Make sure certain markings are legible
  • Frequently examine for defects and never used if observed (i.e. nicks, gouges, cracks)
  • Threads must be clean and undamaged
  • Never fix or reshape an eyebolt via welding/heating or bending
  • Never try to grind or machine an eyebolt
  • Never exceed the WLL of the eyebolt
  • Always make certain the eyebolts thread is compatible with the tapped hole
  • Ensure the collar is completely seated when hand-tight
  • Never reeve slings through the eyes, links or shackles attached to pairs of eyebolts
  • Never shock load
  • Never force hooks, etc into eye, they should fit without restraint
  • Never use eyebolts for angular loading
  • Correctly align the eye
  • WLL are valid only for in-line pull. The WLL must be reduced for non-axial loading.
